Paper Cities

Japanese artist Ayumi Shibata has transformed a traditional paper-cutting method into a unique form. By taking small pieces of white paper, she cuts miniature cityscapes and places within a glass container. The more minimalist and modern snow globe-like creations are meant to illustrate the environment humans have created within the natural world, as the term “Kami” which means paper in Japanese can also mean “god,” “divinity,” or “spirit.”
